A VAN OF ONE’S OWN
During and after my internship at Parthian Books in Wales in 2016 I met some promising Welsh authors, whose manuscripts I was honoured to edit. I edited Biddy Wells’s first book, A Van of One’s Own: a novella about a journey through Portugal that changed her life. It was a wonderful opportunity to edit this beautiful little book on a textual and structural level, and a joy to work closely with the author to make the text the best it could be.
BLINK
GROOVE.ME
For Blink publishers I worked on Groove.me, a range of primary school teaching/learning materials that teaches students English through songs, lyrics and related exercises. I converted printed exercises, theory and source material from print to an online platform. Later on I also performed additional checks and edits of the content. I really enjoyed working with materials based on creative teaching and learning methods, and it taught me a lot about the ins and outs of digitization and creating content for children and teens.

Open Jewish Houses/Houses of Resistance
Open Jewish Houses/Houses of Resistance is a yearly commemorative programme that takes place on May 4 and 5 (Commemoration and Liberation Day in the Netherlands). I worked for their Amsterdam department as a volunteer editor and programmer. I organized presentations about forgotten or little-known life stories from WWII at the locations where they took place. I linked speakers who had a connection to the subject to these locations and made sure their presentations were sound content-wise, were suitable for the audience and fit within time restrictions. I have organized programmes at the NDSM-wharf, in Ets Haim (the oldest still functioning Jewish library in the world), about illegal poetry gatherings on the Herengracht and about Jewish artist Mozes Cohen. One of my English-language programmes, about resistance fighter Tonny van Renterghem, was even attended by the Israelian ambassador.
